About Tadoba National Park
The forest in the region of Chimur Hills is located at Chandrapur, India. It is very famous for its wildlife for many centuries now. This mystical place was once ruled by the dynasty of the Gond kings. Hunting was constrained barely to wild animals in 1905 and was absolutely forbidden since 1935.
Tadoba National Park is within the Chandrapur District in the eastern part of Maharashtra, India together with the Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary. The Andhary Wildlife Sanctury had been incorporated with the Tadoba National Park in order to guarantee better wildlife organization. They belong to a tiger reserve called Tadoba-Andheri Tiger Reserve.
The landscape is surging with panoramic sight of hills, lakes, valleys, and meadows. Tadoba Lake is located approximately in the park’s center. Tadoba is manifested with substantial forests intermingled with paddocks and regions, which materializes the scrub forest. In the arid months, this recurrent body of water is the major source of water in the area.
Exceptional wildlife viewing is made possible by a motor-able road that runs along the border of the lake. The length stretches enough to provide a leisure walk and hike. You could go up the watchtowers to get a good view of the wildlife. Tadoba Lake’s consecrated water is conveyed by Adivasis to shower upon their harvest throughout the rainy season.
An enormous variety of plants and animals can be found in the park. There are bamboo, Kauriculata, Dhavada or axle wood, babul and teak. There is also the Salaia, Bija, Zizphus, Jamun or Black plum and Tendu along with Casia, Palas, Bel, Terminenalia Hiwar and Margosa.
These major floras amalgamate with plains and lakes. In addition, bheria, ain or crocodile bark, beheda, hirda, arjun and bamboo thickets as well as kalam, kach kujali, mahuwa, kuru or karayagum, helicteres and sal are found in the area. The attraction is certainly any botanist’s enchantment.
Being a tiger reserve, Tadoba National Park consists of around 50 tigers together with other animals such as lions, hyenas, jackals, doles or wild dogs and four-horned antelopes. You will also spot some chinkaras, crocodiles, Indian bisons and sambers.
It is also possible to see leopards, spotted deer or chital, jungle cats and praying mantises. Other animals found in the park include crested serpent eagles, cheetahs, flycatchers, mongooses, langurs, stone curlews and wild boars as well as jungle fowls, fishing eagles, cobras, paradise flycatchers and panthers.
Other rare species to see are the stick insects, rock pythons, jewel beetles, peacocks, civets, monitor lizards and gaurs or wild oxen. The park has a wide variety and diversity of fauna. It is any zoologist’s paradise.
The type of weather here is arid. Just 140 cm of rainfall is received here yearly. October to May is the most excellent time to visit when the climate is conducive to touring. History of Tadoba National Park
The Tadoba-Andheri Tiger Reserve was created in 1955 and considered as the oldest National Park in Maharashtra. In addition, it is one of the 28 Tiger Reserve Projects in India. It covers an area of 116.55 sq. km having Asiatic lion, Crocodiles and Jackals as its main attraction. Tadoba National Park is frequently referred as “The Jewel of Vidharba.” The park’s name was derived from ?Taru,? a local God or diety while the Andheri River that wanders through the woods gave the name of the sanctuary.
