Top Trekking Destinations In India
India is a country filled with a wide array of culture, history, and the most breathtaking mountainous and desert ranges in the world. However, it is virtually impossible to see every inch of the country. Therefore, here is a list compiled of the top must-see places in India that truly capture the essence of India.
New Delhi
New Delhi is the capital of India. You will discover it is a metropolitan area where the streets are packed with people, historical sites, and businesses. The number of people may be overwhelming to new comers but after you zigzag through traffic, you begin to notice ancient monuments, a vivacious performing arts scene, and some of the best food found cooked in the entire country. There are shops and bazaars sprinkled throughout the entire region amplifying cultural fashion. There are swanky new cafes along the streets. It is a mixture of old India charm with modern influences combined in one area making it a top spot to see when traveling to India.
Jaipur
Rajasthan is a state in the Northern part of India. It has bragging rights to the oldest mountain ranges in India as its backdrop. It encompasses infamous sand dunes, lush forests, culture and wildlife. Jaipur is a beautiful city in Rajasthan.
Jaipur originates back to the eighteenth century, during the reign of Jai Singh II who ascended the Amber throne in 1699. Currently, Jaipur exemplifies the spirit of Rajputana for it retains the character and history more than other regions of India. Other regions have changed dramatically with the times, but Jaipur remains strongly synchronized with its original heritage. In addition, you may hear other people refer to Jaipur as the ?Pink City? due to the extensive use of locally abundant pink plastered stone, painted in the honor of the visit of the royal consort of Queen Victoria.
Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is the most beautiful monument built by the Mughals, the Muslim rulers of India. Its architectural beauty is beyond adequate description. It has been noted that during the morning hours the structure appears pink, during noontime it appears white and in the moonlight it glows gold. But it is important to note that if you go during the summer, you will not be able to experience the full range of colors due to the morning sun shining too bright upon the gate opening. Thus, you may wish to visit during the fall, winter or spring.
The Taj Mahal took over twenty-two years to build and employed twenty thousand workers. It stands on a raised platform with four corners truncated, forming an unequal octagon. It uses interlocking arabesque concept where each element stands on its own and perfectly integrates with the main structure. It uses the principles of self-replicating geometry and symmetry of architectural elements. Its central dome is fifty-eight feet in diameter and rises to a height of 213 feet. It is flanked by four subsidiary domed chambers. The main archways, chiseled with passages from the Holy Quran and the bold scroll work of flowery pattern, provides a enchanting charm to its beauty. The central domed chamber and four adjoining chambers include many walls and panels of Islamic decoration.
India is an extraordinary country filled with historical sites, and experiences unable to attain anywhere else in the world.
