Amsterdam Throbs to Club Music Festival

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is the biggest club festival for electronic music and the world’s leading electronic music conference. Founded 14 years ago, ADE first burst onto the music scene in 1996 with a few hundred music professionals and music festival program in three clubs with 30 DJs.

It is now an annual Amsterdam dance event – the 14th opens on October 22 and last four days. The official opening features the Simian Mobile Disco from the UK and British artist Nadia Ksailba.

It’s then virtually non-stop music until 5am on the first night with artists from all over the world but always with an emphasis on Dutch and British acts.

The Amsterdam dance event boasts the most inspiring figures in the electronic scene. For this year?s conference organisers have pulled together acts thart include Carl Craig, Chris Liebing, Dave Clarke, Fran?ois K, Jason Alexander (HTGR, CSI), John Dahlback, Junkie XL, Mark Jones (Wall of Sound), Mike Banks (Underground Resistance), Peter Hook (New Order, Joy Division), Richie Hawtin, Sergio Pimentel (Activision, DJ Hero) and Tommie Sunshine.

Workshops and panels will guide visitors through the all industry?s hottest topics including; the role of the manager (?Do DJs need managers??); the landscape of radio (the Radio Edit panel); the club scene (The Advanced Art Of Clubbing); 10 years of Defected by Simone Dunmore; and Why Sync Your Music and How To Do it? – hosted by Jason Alexander, CSI.

There’s a detailed look at the Eastern European and, as ever, the “legendary” Artist Debate.

To attend the ADE as a conference delegate, you need to be registered. ADE has two types of registration: a day pass (which is only valid for the conference program) on the date chosen, and a four-day full registration – that’s valid for both the conference and festival programme. Both registration types include access to the online delegates database, the ADE delegates’ directory and the ADE conference bag.

Registration rates go up as the event gets closer, so booking early saves money! For more information on the rates and to register directly, visit the ADE webshop.

With music through the night, getting some sleep may not be the priority for some delegates, but for those that need to get their heads down occasionally, book a room Amsterdam’s most stylish and intimate hotel: The Dylan Hotel.

It’s an official ADE conference location and The Dylan offers great food, a relaxed atmosphere and it’s ideally located next to the main Amsterdam conference building.

Unlike many holiday destinations, an Amsterdam city break can be enjoyed all year round. The weather is traditionally at its best at Easter time and between July and August. However Amsterdam?s climate changes hourly throughout the year and rarely becomes extreme. We wouldn?t even rule out mid-winter, as temperatures hardly ever drop below freezing, and sheltering in cosy pubs will allow you to meet real Dutch locals.

With this in mind, more and more travellers are taking advantage of cheaper restaurants, hotels and flights and beginning to favour off-season holidays. The city is every bit as attractive, and there are more wonderful cultural events to entertain and inspire. The cultural calendar is in full swing between September and April, with dates and locations widely available online.

As well as the ADE festival, highlights in recent years have included the Comedytrain International – a six week comedy romp featuring some of the very best stand-up comedians. The Grachtenfestival is a music festival which takes place for a whole week over the summer. The concerts take place in museums, historic buildings, concert halls, and even in local people?s houses and gardens.
